Skull Gear Apparel Inc started out in 2006 from me going to so many Motorcycle events and seeing how People would react to the Biker Shirts and Gear. I would see what they Liked, what they didn’t Like and I would see what I liked and what I didn’t Like. At one point I said out loud ” WTF I can make Cool Shirts that everyone will Love and can Wear too. Not being one who just talks the talk, The Idea slowly started forming in my head to create a Cool Line of T-shirts and Apparel .

I wanted to come up with shirts that not only Bikers would wear but everyone who wanted to look cool would wear . I talked with some Bro’s about becoming part of the company as I was hopping this could be something I could share with friends. They seemed interested at first, but as things started to get going they were all too busy with Family’s and Jobs. In 2011 SGA Inc was a dead failed idea, finding myself with some free time. I had everything transferred into my name and I invested a lot of time and money into rebuilding the Company.

At First it was only friends and family purchasing the Shirts but soon their friends wanted Shirts too. Now that the Website is up and People can order from around the world things have started moving.

The Ideas for the Skull Gear Shirts come from what I see and hear around me , The new Girls Skeleton Heart Hands Design Shirt came from seeing all the girls on facebook doing the heart hands in their online profile pictures and I thought it would make a Cool Shirt (but with an SGA Inc twist).

The Idea for the New Guys Fist Shirt With the Saying “Violate My Biker Rights and You better watch Out for my Biker Left” Came from my being into and Fighting for Biker Rights for so many Years, My Bro Big Tom Berg used to bust my Chops all the Time Saying how I worry so much about Biker rights I am going to miss the Biker Lefts, slowly it formed into the saying it is today. The Shirt is a tribute to Big Tom Berg, He was hit by a car on his Motorcycle and passed on in 2010, So now you all know what the BTB I had placed on the Knuckles of the fist Stands for (Don’t tell anyone OK?). I have another Sweat Shirt coming out in Fall 2012 Based on another idea from Big Tom. I am also working on a Shirt in Memory of my Bro Ted Wern who died from Cancer.

The Company is a Labor of Love and I enjoy Putting my Time and Money into it. The Company is only breaking even at this time, But the response and feed back has been great and seeing someone wearing SGA Inc is Cool. I thank everyone who has helped promote SGA Inc and everyone who has bought SGA Inc gear, Only because of the people who like this small independent Clothing company have we survived and I have plans for the Future !!!

One MC I have spent a lot of time with lately, is the ever growing Chapter of the Long Island Road Reapers MC. I have known and been good friends with this Clubs President Chris Lowe AKA “Lucky” for a long time and recently I spoke with him about The Road Reapers MC.

The Road Reapers MC started in Gravesend , Brooklyn, NY in 2001 and has grown to include not only Chapters in New York, They now have Chapters in Virginia and Minnesota. The Road Reapers MC have seen a growth momentum over the past few years and also have Prospective Chapters in states across the USA.

As I spoke with Lucky, I found out one thing that Surprises people about the Road Reapers MC is that they are a 3 piece Patch MC that is open to all Brands of Motorcycles. I found out that while The Road Reapers MC may not be that concerned with the make of Motorcycle a potential Member may ride, They are very concerned with the make of Man a potential member may be!

Last Wednesday In June Motorcycle Rider Skip Work Day

Many of you have heard of Ride to Work Day. Well how many have heard about “Forget Work and Lets Ride Day”? It takes place on the last Wednesday in June every year and it is a one day biker Holiday, where everyone who rides a Motorcycle ditches work and goes out riding for the day. The Event was “Officially” made a Biker Holiday on Wednesday June 29th 2011 on Long Island in NY. It comes from the mind of Long time Biker Rights Activist, Freelance Author on the Motorcycle Lifestyle, Biker Radio Show Host and one of the owners of the Skull Gear Apparel Inc Clothing Line “Your Bro LJ James”

The idea for “Forget Work and Let’s Ride Day” came in 2010 when after losing his license for over 90 days on the last day of June 2010 (a Wednesday), LJ got his License back. When LJ went to get on his Motorcycle and ride to work, His Bro Big Tom Berg saw him and asked “We going Riding”? LJ replied I can’t, I got to go to work ! To which Big Tom said some thing that sounded real Similar to “Forget Work and Lets Ride” after thinking about it for a Minute LJ said OK .

It was one of the best rides ever. LJ James and Big Tom Berg spent hours riding all over Long Island, NY stopping to Hang out in Montauk, NY for Lunch. The Two Bro’s experienced a perfect day of Riding and Biker Brotherhood ! About a Month later on 8/7/2010 Big Tom Berg was killed while riding his Motorcycle when a car hit him from behind.

After Big Toms Death all LJ James could think of was of how close he had been to not taking that ride with Big Tom Berg that last Wednesday in June, LJ had though as many of us do there would be many other chances to ride with his Bro Big Tom in the Future.

That is the reason LJ James decided to declare the last Wednesday in June every Year a Biker Holiday, where every person who rides a Motorcycle (No matter the Brand it is) puts everything aside and spends the day out riding with fellow Motorcycle Riders, stopping at a local tourist area for Lunch. Then after a full day of Riding ending the day at a cool Biker Friendly Bar. The perfect one day Biker Holiday.

This Ride and day is to spend with those we love to ride with, Those we have not yet had the chance to ride with and in Memory of those we will never get to ride with again.

Forget Work and Lets Ride Day is an idea and there are No rules to the day other then get out there and Ride! The hope is that Motorcycle Riders all over the World will step up and organize Forget Work and Lets Ride Day runs in their area, All too often we put off taking that ride with our Bro’s and Friends for one of many reasons, Well this is the day to Forget everything and just go out riding.
